Purpose
A WJ Valve is designed to hold a certain amount of fluid from draining back in the wellbore. It consists of a fishneck, packing sub, collet, and plunger. It is divided into two categories; cast steel globe valve and bronze WJ valve.
Description
The BT WJ consists of six components:
1. Fishneck 2. Shear Disc 3. Plunger 4. Cage 5. Packing Sub 6. Collet
Applications
BT WJ valves are generally placed in a well when there is a need for fluid to be retained in the wellbore and not to be reabsorbed back into the formation of a well, a good example of this would be above a submersible pump.
Operation
Install BT WJ Valve into desired jar down running tool and lower into wellbore to desired depth, jar packing into nipple and seat no-go, jar down to shear off and remove tool string from wellbore.
Pulling Procedure
Install equalizing prong into desired jar up pulling tool and lower into wellbore to top of the BT WJ Valve and pierce the equalizing plunger, wait for tubing to equalize, pull from seal bore and remove tool string from the wellbore.
